About Bushwackers Inc

By June the slopes above the American River canyon have gone to gold, and the grass that looked so friendly in March turns into something you want cut low and carried away. Bushwackers Inc works the lots along Highway 49 and the roads that drop toward the confluence — mowing lawns, cutting down weeds and tall grass, trimming brush back from fences and outbuildings, and hauling what comes down. The work goes early, before the canyon heat walks up the draws. A yard mowed even and a hillside knocked back have their own kind of order: close-trimmed near the house, open ground beyond. Come the November rains it all starts over green, which is the good news and the whole job at once.
