A-Z Maintenance

About A-Z Maintenance

Some Atwater mornings begin inside a white room: tule fog lying flat over the valley floor, hiding the orchard rows a block away. A-Z Maintenance works right through it, lamps on, the sound of the mower arriving a moment before the machine does. By the time the fog thins toward noon there is an even nap across the grass, a straight cut line along the driveway, and not a clipping left on the walk. That is the whole of the work here — lawns mowed, edges trimmed, yards left tidy on Atwater's streets and out toward Winton and Merced. There is a plain kind of joy in a yard that looks finished before the sun has fully shown itself.
