The Garden Artist

About The Garden Artist

On a Saturday the Arcata Plaza arranges itself around a square of grass and old brick, flowers on one table, greens on the next, the whole thing in color order almost by accident. The Garden Artist carries that eye home to the yard — planting and bed composition, pruning for shape, mowing and trimming so the picture has a frame around it. Bloom runs long on this coast, since the cold rarely comes hard enough to shut anything down, and something is always opening while something else is being cut back. What you aim for is a yard that looks composed from the sidewalk and generous from the porch. Arcata, Bayside and Sunny Brae.
