Granite boulders shoulder up out of the ground all over Anza, and any landscape built here has to make peace with them. Martinscapes prefers to make partners of them — working yards along Highway 371 where the native rock, the tough plantings, and a stretch of kept lawn come together into something that belongs to this high valley. The work covers landscaping, yard care, and cleanups timed to the plateau's swings, from late frosts to the bone-dry weeks of early fall. Dusk is the valley's best light, when the boulders go amber and a finished yard shows every line it has. Building landscapes worthy of that hour is the whole idea.
