Diego’s Gardening Service

About Diego’s Gardening Service

June mornings in Altadena come in under a gray lid off the ocean, cool and soft, and the grass holds that damp until almost noon. Diego's Gardening Service starts in that window — mowing while the blades are still standing, cutting beds back to their line, shaping hedges, weeding around the old orange and lemon trees that so many yards up here still carry. By the time the marine layer burns off and Lake Avenue goes bright, the cut is laid down in clean passes and the walkways are blown bare. Gardening in this town is a weekly rhythm rather than one grand event, and the proof of it is what a yard looks like on an average Tuesday. Steadiness is the whole service.
