About Alissa's Garden

John Muir once worked a fruit ranch in the Alhambra Valley, beneath hills that turn emerald with the winter rains and fade to tawny gold by early summer. The valley still winds quietly south of Martinez, with Alhambra Creek threading between oaks and old orchard ground. Alissa's Garden carries on a gentler version of that tending, caring for gardens and lawns along these curving country roads. In March, when the creek runs full and the hillsides are at their greenest, a freshly worked bed comes alive almost overnight. It is a lovely valley to garden in, and the results feel like part of the landscape rather than set apart from it.
