About Sue Oda Landscape Architect

A garden in Albany has to answer to a lot: a small parcel, a slope toward the bay, fog light in the morning and gold light at dusk. Sue Oda Landscape Architect designs with all of it — composing plantings, lawn, and path so a compact yard reads as a whole rather than a collection of corners. The drawing comes first: where the eye should rest, where the walk should turn, what the view from the kitchen window deserves. Then the ground work, until the plan and the place agree. From the flats up to the shoulder of Albany Hill, the aim is the same — gardens that feel inevitable, as if the lot had always wanted to be this.
