The Peavine Trail leaves Prescott Valley on an old railroad grade, and it is still the straightest line anybody ever drew across this valley. Pavers Landscaping has a fondness for that kind of line: a mown row that doesn't wander, an edge run true along a curb, a clean break where turf gives way to decomposed granite. The work is mowing, edging, trimming, and carrying off the clippings and yard debris, then standing at the end of a lawn and sighting back down it the way you'd sight a rail. Late afternoon the light comes in low over Lonesome Valley and every one of those lines throws its own small shadow, which is when a finished yard really shows. Prescott Valley is home ground, with Prescott, Chino Valley and Dewey-Humboldt close behind.
