First light reaches Komatke sideways, sliding off the long dark wall of the Sierra Estrella and out across the flats. That early hour, while the air is still cool and the grass still holds the night, is when the mowers go out. E-scapes of Arizona cuts straight passes, runs the trimmer tight along the borders, and blows the walks clear before the heat lifts off the caliche. In country this dry, a green yard is something somebody chose to keep, and it deserves to be kept well. Lawn care out here is a morning habit, and the reward is a place that looks looked-after all day.
