American Legion post 4

About American Legion post 4

By evening the Pinal Mountains throw their shadow east across Globe and the heat lets go all at once. American Legion post 4 handles lawn care in that cooling hour — mowing, trimming along fences and posts, edging, and raking the cuttings clear. There is a particular pride in grass cut before a Friday gathering: the stripes still fresh, the ground around the flagpole trimmed close, no shagginess hiding in the corners. Gila County soil hands over nothing for free, so every green patch in this town is somebody's stubbornness made visible. Keeping that going, week after week, is the whole of it.
