Cornville Road runs east at first grey light, with the red rock country just beginning to warm at the far end of it. Chowis Scape is usually on it early, mowing, edging, string trimming and pulling weeds before the day becomes something you argue with. Yards out here run big and open, half grass and half desert, and both halves need a hand to look intentional. It is a good feeling to pass a lot you cut yesterday and find the lines still holding. Cornville, Page Springs, Cottonwood and Rimrock are the regular stops.
