On the ridge above the Verde River, Tuzigoot's stone rooms hold the first sun of the day, and the water below runs green under old cottonwoods. Le4 Landscaping keeps the yards on the benches between that river bottom and the open mesa, mowing, edging and trimming back whatever the heat pushes over a walkway. Monsoon storms build over the valley in July and leave everything growing at once, which is when a mower earns its keep. A cut lawn here reads clean against gravel and stone: one even surface, one sharp border, clippings gathered rather than left to blow. Clarkdale and the neighboring Verde Valley towns make up the whole route.
