Late in the afternoon the thermals come up off the Chino grasslands and the hawks ride them without moving a wing, and from that height the whole valley reads as one long green-and-tan quilt. Eagle's Eye Landscaping works down in the squares of it, mowing lawns, edging along concrete, trimming the fence lines nobody sees from the street but everybody notices when they go. Seasonal cleanups clear beds and gravel of what has collected since the last visit. Regular mowing keeps a yard from ever getting away from itself. Most of it is a matter of looking closely and coming back.
