About Oasis Landscaping

By mid-afternoon in July the clouds stack up over the Sacaton Mountains north of Casa Grande, and everyone in town watches the sky the way sailors watch a horizon. Oasis Landscaping works around the monsoon — mowing early, then coming back after a storm to clear the palm fronds and grit the wind laid across a lawn overnight. Rain here doesn't ask permission, and the week after one arrives the weeds come up in a green rush that has to be met head-on. There is something honest about the name: a mowed, edged, watered patch of grass is exactly that in this landscape, a small deliberate green in a country of tan and rust. When the storm smell of creosote is still hanging in the yard and the lines are freshly cut, the work feels like keeping a promise.
