October in the Verde Valley smells like pecan hulls and cut grass at the same time. That is the stretch of year this work fits into most neatly: the heat lets go, the Bermuda slows down, and every pass of the mower leaves a stripe that lasts. The round is mowing, edging, trimming and hauling the clippings off, plus the fall cleanups that pull leaf drop out of the beds before the cold nights arrive. A yard in Camp Verde sits under an enormous amount of sky, and a tidy one holds its own against all that space. The truck ranges out to Cornville, Cottonwood and the Beaver Creek side of the valley.
