The Agua Fria runs along the bottom of the canyon here, its cottonwoods marking the course green against a thousand shades of brown. Hansel Landscape & Construction builds yards to match that country, with desert plantings, rock and gravel set clean, and beds and borders shaped to sit right on sloping ground. Spring along the river is the argument for all of it: brittlebush going yellow across the hillsides, palo verde about to follow, and a yard that belongs in the picture. They plant, lay the hard materials, then keep it mown, trimmed and cleared once everything is in. What starts as bare dirt ends up looking as though the canyon simply made room for a house.
