About Barefoot Lawns

Some lawns are meant to be admired from the road; the ones Barefoot Lawns works on are meant to be walked across, shoes left at the porch step on a July evening in Smith, Arkansas. When the day's heat finally lifts, fireflies rise out of the grass, the cicadas wind down in the trees, and a yard mowed that week feels cool and even underfoot. That is the whole idea behind the work: grass cut to a soft, level height, edges trimmed neat, the front walk left clean for bare feet on the way back inside. Arkansas summers push Bermuda grass along fast and thick, and keeping up with it has a rhythm all its own. The reward is a lawn you actually want to stand in.
