Sculptured lawns and irrigation

About Sculptured lawns and irrigation

Sculptured lawns and irrigation treats grass as something to be shaped, not merely cut. On the hilly lots of Piney, where the ground tilts toward one hollow or another, the mowing follows the contour so the turf reads as a smooth, deliberate curve. Beds are carved with clean, rounded edges, and irrigation is set to water each rise and dip evenly instead of letting it run off downhill. Early on a September morning, before the heat returns, the dew on a sculpted lawn traces every line of the design in silver. It is yard work with a sculptor's patience, in a place where the land itself never lies quite still.
