Sun-up, trailer down, first yard by seven. That is how a Gifford summer day opens for CJE Services, and the route keeps moving until the afternoon heat pushes back. The work is mowing, string trimming, edging, and clearing every clipping off the walk and the drive, week after week through a growing season that hardly lets up. Storms put limbs down in July; leaves come down in November and get moved before the rain mats them to the ground. A lawn kept on schedule never looks like it is catching up, and that is the quiet aim behind the whole route.
