The Cutting Edge

About The Cutting Edge

By seven in the morning the Razorback Greenway is still cool under the trees and the day's heat is only a rumor; that is when the mowers start. The Cutting Edge takes the name literally — the stripe down the middle matters, but so does the line where turf meets curb, cut sharp enough that a yard looks drawn rather than trimmed. Mowing, edging, string trimming, shrub and hedge work, and every clipping put back off the pavement where it belongs. Fayetteville summers run humid and green and fast; a lawn can put on a week's growth in four days after a thunderstorm rolls through, so the schedule stays tight. By the time the cicadas get loud in the afternoon the work is two neighborhoods over, and the first street is still holding its lines.
