Bren's

About Bren's

Saturday mornings on the Fayetteville square start early — trucks backing in, tents going up, coffee and cut flowers on the air well before eight. Bren's keeps that same hour, mowing and trimming the lawns of the older streets that run off the square while the town is still stretching. Edging along brick walks, blowing the clippings clear, cutting the grass back off the fence lines: each part is small and the total is obvious. Spring and fall cleanups empty the beds, and the leaves get hauled once the sycamores begin to drop. By the time anyone's second cup is poured, the block looks tended.
