Cannons Clean and Green

About Cannons Clean and Green

Late February afternoons in Brewer have a raw brightness to them, the grass still winter-tan and the yards strewn with whatever the cold months shook loose: twigs, matted leaves, the odd fallen branch. Cannons Clean and Green earns the first half of its name now, raking and blowing it all away, cutting back last summer's dead stalks, and leaving beds bare and ready. Then, as March warms the ground, the second half takes over with first mows, trimmed edges and a lawn coming up green with nothing in its way. Few changes to a property land as fast as a thorough winter cleanup. Afterward the whole yard looks rinsed and ready for its first green weeks.
