Bald Knob wakes up in April: the fields greening east of town, the strawberries coming on, and freight moving through the junction at all hours the way it always has. Lawn Hogz opens the season there with the first cuts of the year, the winter's growth trimmed back from fences and mailboxes, and the walks edged clean again. A White County summer barely lets the grass pause, so the schedule runs weekly from spring straight into fall. When the year closes out the leaves come off the yards and the ground is left neat for the cold months. Whatever the month is asking for, the yard gets left sharp and open.
