About Butlers Lawn Services

Selma's older streets run beneath live oaks so broad the shade never entirely lifts, and the grass underneath has its own opinions about how it wants to be cut. Butlers Lawn Services reads that ground and works with it — mowing, edging along the walks, trimming back whatever leans out over the drive, clearing away the clippings and the crepe myrtle blossoms that drift down all through July. A yard here is finished when the border along the concrete is crisp enough to run a thumb down and the lines lie straight from the street. Summer in the Black Belt is generous and relentless in equal measure; the grass answers every rain, and somebody has to answer the grass. The reward comes in the late light, when a whole block looks tended and the mower is loaded and quiet.
