Rolling Lawns

About Rolling Lawns

East of Opelika the land will not lie flat — it lifts and drops in long red-clay swells toward the Chattahoochee, and the lawns follow every bit of it. Rolling Lawns cuts on that grade, mowing across the slope so the stripes hold their shape, trimming the banks and edges a wheel cannot hold. In October the light comes in sideways and every rise in a yard shows itself, which is exactly when careful mowing pays. Leaves let go of the oaks and hickories in waves, so blowing and cleanup run right alongside the cut. A hillside yard done right looks like somebody ironed it.
