Lawn Trouper

About Lawn Trouper

Government Street runs under a canopy of live oaks so old the branches meet overhead, and in March those oaks drop their leaves all at once, which is Mobile's version of autumn arriving in spring. Lawn Trouper works that season and every other one, mowing, edging and clearing what the trees let go across yards from Midtown to the neighborhoods off Airport Boulevard. The job has a soldier's cadence to it — arrive, cut, trim, blow the walks, leave the place tidier than the morning found it — and there is real satisfaction in a lawn that looks intentional rather than merely short. Summer here rewards patience: heat, humidity and a three o'clock downpour, and the grass rising again by Thursday. Yard cleanups close out the round, hauling off what the oaks and the storms leave behind.
