Wild River Roots Farm

About Wild River Roots Farm

Up on Lookout Mountain the air arrives kinder than it does in the valley, and Mentone wakes with fog pooled in the gorge below the brow while the Little River works its way down toward the canyon. Growing anything well on this sandstone shelf takes attention — thin soil, big hemlock shade, rain that comes hard and leaves quick. Wild River Roots Farm keeps mountain lawns and yards in shape with mowing, trimming, edging and cleanup suited to that uneven, rooty ground. A cut lawn framed by laurel and gray rock, with the walkway swept and the borders sharp, sits in the landscape instead of fighting it. On summer mornings up here, that is about as good as work gets.
