Maylene grew up along old ore ridges and the bends of Buck Creek, and the ground still rolls the way mining country does — nothing quite level, everything wooded at the edges. Stevens Wack N Sack Inc takes both halves of the name seriously: the cutting, and then the gathering, so clippings and leaves leave with the truck instead of lying in rows across the grass. Mowing, trimming and edging set the shape; the bagging is what makes a lawn look swept rather than simply shortened. On a cool morning under those ridges, a yard finished that way is a fine thing to stand back and look at.
