Autumn arrives early on Lookout Mountain, a couple of weeks ahead of the valley, and the hardwood coves above DeSoto Falls turn while Fort Payne is still in short sleeves. Quincy's Angel Lawn and Landscaping meets that season with rakes, blowers and steady mowing right up until the grass finally quits for the year. Leaves come off the lawns and out of the beds, shrubs get shaped, mulch is renewed, and every edge is recut clean. Through spring and summer the work is weekly and unglamorous: cut, trim, edge, blow, repeat. Done that way, a mountain yard looks composed in every month, including the ones nobody photographs.
