TURF DOCTOR OF BIRMINGHAM

About TURF DOCTOR OF BIRMINGHAM

The ground under this city is red and it keeps a grudge: it bakes to brick through August, then turns to slick paste an hour after a thunderstorm rolls up the Cahaba. TURF DOCTOR OF BIRMINGHAM reads a lawn the way the name suggests, looking for what is thin, what is compacted, what is crowding the grass out along the hot strip by the curb. Mowing and edging keep the shape; fertilization and weed control, core aeration in the deep heat and overseeding when the nights cool keep the stand itself thick enough to shade its own roots. It is slow, patient work whose reward comes months later, when a yard from Crestline to Cahaba Heights holds color while the one next door goes ragged. Grass that dense feels like carpet underfoot, and that is the result worth chasing.
