Big Beautiful Backyards

About Big Beautiful Backyards

In Guntersville the yards do not stay flat for long; they tilt toward the water and keep going, down through hickory shade to where the lake shows blue between the trunks. Big Beautiful Backyards works those slopes with the mower, the trimmer and the blower, reading each grade before the first pass. Late afternoon is the hour that pays off the effort, when the light comes low off the water and every mowed line stands up in it. Edges get cut clean along the drive and the walk, and the clippings get blown back off the concrete instead of left to wash down the hill. A backyard on a peninsula ought to look like it belongs to the lake, and that is the whole aim.
