About Perry Cutting Up

Up on the ridge northwest of Birmingham, a Graysville summer evening finally turns loose of the heat somewhere around seven. Perry Cutting Up is usually still out then — mowing, edging, trimming, blowing off the drive — finishing a yard while the light lasts. Jefferson County grass in July asks for the same day every week and won't negotiate about it. The payoff is straight lines across a level cut and a border that stops exactly where it should. Small work done properly, and a whole street the better for it.
