About H L Shierling & Son

Fruithurst was planted in grapevines once, and the hills along the Georgia line still fall away in those long, patient rows of contour. In October the air off the Talladega ridges turns clear and cool, the hardwoods begin letting go, and a lawn needs a rake as much as a mower. H L Shierling & Son works that turn of the year - mowing while there is still growth, hauling leaves off as they come, edging walks and drives, trimming the fence lines back before the ground goes quiet. When spring returns, the same yards get opened up again, cleared out and cut down to an even start. In a small place on the state line, a well-kept yard is something the whole road notices.
