The old Federal Road ran through Fort Deposit before much else did, and the pines and pecans along it have been sizing each other up ever since. Caleb Battiste Tree Service LLC handles tree removal and tree trimming across the Lowndes County hills and the black-soil country below them, prunes shade trees so they age well instead of splitting, and clears storm damage when a spring system moves through in the middle of the night. Ground out here goes from sand to gumbo in the space of a mile, and a root's grip changes right along with it. In the cool months the woods open up and the work moves. A neat lot on a quiet county road is a good thing to leave behind.
