About Wilson

On a Saturday morning in Daphne the neighborhood streets fill with the sound of mowers, one starting as another shuts off, all the way down to the corner. Wilson is part of that sound, cutting the yards along the shaded lanes off the main roads, trimming close to mailboxes and porch rails, edging where sod has run out over the sidewalk. This coast keeps grass growing longer than most places do, so the rhythm rarely breaks. The clippings get put back on the lawn where they belong. By afternoon the street looks the way a street ought to look, and nobody had to think about it.
