About Dekalb Farmers Cooperative

This is farm country first — hay fields, cattle pasture, poultry houses and long rows of tomatoes climbing the sandy ground north of Crossville. Dekalb Farmers Cooperative works the lawn side of that same land, handling mowing, edging, trimming and brush-and-leaf cleanup for homes and properties around the mountain. A farm town keeps its own hours, and a yard here gets cut between everything else that has to happen before dark. Evenings in May smell of cut grass and cut hay at once, and it is hard to say which one a person likes better. What stays behind at the end of a route is an even lawn and a swept drive — the sort of thing neighbors notice without ever mentioning it.
