Howells Service Center

About Howells Service Center

By late October the water oaks around the Chilton County courthouse square let go a little more every afternoon, and the grass underneath disappears by the hour. Howells Service Center works Clanton through that stretch — mowing while there is still growth in the ground, then raking, blowing and hauling until the lawn shows again. Autumn light here is generous and low, and it makes a cleared yard look almost new. The work is unglamorous and completely visible: one pass and the difference is obvious from the sidewalk. Come the last mild weeks of the year, the properties go into winter tidy instead of buried.
