In October the trees go bronze at the top and the shade underneath turns cool enough to work in all afternoon. Blackburn's keeps the mower running through that stretch of the year, taking lawns down neat, cutting the edges back off the sidewalk, and hauling away the leaves and limbs the wind leaves behind. Shrubs get shaped before the cold slows everything down, and beds get cleared so a yard reads clean from the road. There is a satisfaction in a place where every line is deliberate — where the grass ends exactly where it ought to. Blackburn's carries that across Brewton and the towns nearby.
