Greener Grounds Lawn & Tree

About Greener Grounds Lawn & Tree

Storms build to the southwest over the Cahaba and cross Birmingham in a hurry come spring, and the morning after, half the yards in town are wearing limbs they did not have the day before. Greener Grounds Lawn & Tree shows up for that morning — hauling the deadfall off, pulling debris out of the beds, getting the mower back over the grass so the place looks whole again. Ordinary weeks are steadier: mowing, edging, trimming, and shaping the shrubs and low branches that crowd a walk. Fall brings the long labor of leaves — oak, hickory, sweetgum — raked and blown and carried away. From the ridges above the river you can see the whole green sprawl of the valley, and a piece of it is theirs to keep.
