Terrapin Turf

About Terrapin Turf

August evening in Berry: heat lightning somewhere off toward Fayette, fireflies coming up out of the creek bottom, a box turtle taking his own sweet time across the gravel. Terrapin Turf works the cooler ends of a day like that, mowing and trimming while the light is long and the grass will forgive a blade. Turf in west Alabama asks for patience — cut it too short in the heat and it sulks, so the height gets set for the season rather than the calendar. What comes of that patience is a lawn that stays thick and green when the neighbors go brown, edged neat where it meets the walk. Homes and small properties around Berry and the surrounding Fayette County countryside make up the run.
