About Elk River Turf inc.

The Elk River comes down out of Tennessee and lays out wide before it gives itself to Wheeler Lake, and the bottomland grass along it stays greener than anything up on the ridge. Elk River Turf inc. keeps Athens lawns in that condition with mowing, edging, trimming and seasonal cleanups through a growing season that starts in March and won't quit until November. Bermuda and zoysia relish this heat, while fescue on the shaded north sides has to be coaxed along. Reading which is which, and cutting each the way it wants to be cut, is the difference between mown and kept. A lawn still holding its color in September is the whole argument.
