There is limestone under Alabaster — the town took its name from the stone in its own ground — and above it, neighborhoods that run right down to Buck Creek. Saturday morning here sounds like ballgames at Veterans Park and a mower starting up two streets over. Cut-N-Up keeps that Shelby County rhythm: mowing on a set turn, trimming around fences and mailboxes and swing sets, edging the walk clean, and sweeping the hard surfaces before the truck rolls. Lawns along the I-65 corridor get seen by a lot of people, and there is pride in one that holds its lines all week long. Autumn brings the leaf work, and then the still, dormant stretch where the shape cut in September is still plain to see.
