Walker Landscapes

About Walker Landscapes

Downtown Palmer keeps its Colony-era rooflines, steep and squared against the mountains, and the streets beneath them are short enough to walk end to end in an evening. Walker Landscapes shapes the ground around houses like those, laying out planting beds, cutting the border clean where lawn meets soil, mowing and trimming through the growing months, and clearing a yard out when the weather turns it over. Valley summers are brief and bright, so a bed set out well earns its keep quickly. Watching a plain rectangle of grass become a yard with structure, a line, a border, a shape that makes sense from the sidewalk, is the reason for the trade. Come September the outlines are still there, holding the yard together as the color drains out of it.
