Knik-Goose Bay Road runs out of Wasilla toward the old Knik townsite, past the Iditarod Trail Committee headquarters, where the dogs and the trail get their due every March. By late May the sled teams are resting, the snow has finally let go of the shady side of the house, and Knik Arm's grey tides glint beyond the trees. Knik Landscaping provides lawn care in Wasilla, mowing, trimming and edging as the valley wakes up. The first mow of the year here feels like a door swinging open: crisp edges along drive and walk, the smell of cut grass replacing the smell of melt. From that day on, the yard belongs to summer.
