Above the Chena River valley outside Fairbanks, the ridged ground of Steele Creek often sits clear of the ice fog that fills the lower town on the coldest mornings, its air staying sharp and brutally cold while the valley below disappears into white haze. E&M Plowing clears driveways and access roads across that ridge country, working snow that falls dry and stays dry for weeks at a time in interior cold that rarely climbs back above freezing to soften it. Long gravel driveways common to the area get plowed in full, snow banked high enough along the sides that by midwinter the piles stand taller than a truck. Ravens are usually the only company out on a route this early, black against the snow and the pale wash of aurora still fading in the west. Steps and walkways get cleared and sanded last, so the ice underfoot holds no surprises before anyone heads out for the day.
