About Steam On Wheels LLC

Steam rises off the open stretch of the Kenai River even on the coldest mornings in Soldotna, a reminder that the water underneath the town's ice and snow never fully stops moving. Steam On Wheels LLC clears driveways and walkways across town through the winter, working routes near the Kenai River Bridge where wind funneling along the water packs snow harder against pavement than it does a few streets back. Ice that builds on driveways and walkways gets broken and treated so footing holds through the cold snaps between storms. Parking areas for businesses along the highway near the bridge get scraped clear each morning before traffic picks up. As the season turns toward breakup, when the river ice groans and starts to move, the same routes get cleared right up until the last snow of spring finally gives way to bare pavement.
