Sitka Handyman

About Sitka Handyman

In June the light over Sitka lingers well past ten, and the lawns off Lincoln Street keep growing in it. Sitka Handyman takes the mower out in those long evenings, trimming around spruce roots and shed corners, edging where the grass has crept over a walk, hauling off clippings and the needles winter left behind. Swan Lake holds the last of the sun; the muskeg above town turns gold, then blue. Here you work between the showers rather than waiting them out, and a yard cut with the shine still on it looks all the better for it. The reward is small and completely real — a straight line where there wasn't one, a tidy strip of green tucked between the mountains and the sea.
