About Summit Earthworks

Breakup in Juneau is a muddy, hopeful season — snow retreating up the flank of Mount Juneau, the Perseverance side of the basin dripping steadily, every yard soft underfoot. Summit Earthworks meets the ground where it is: clearing winter's debris first, then mowing, trimming and edging once the turf firms up and will take a cut. Steep lots, gravel drives and hillside terraces are the local normal, and coaxing a lawn onto them is most of the skill. The work runs from the downtown benches out through Lemon Creek and into the Mendenhall Valley. By June the same yard that was mud is a clean green rectangle, and that never gets old.
