About Wild Acre Home & Garden

Out the road past Tee Harbor, the fireweed burns down to its last blossom by August, and everyone up this way reads that as the summer's countdown. Wild Acre Home & Garden works the long lots toward Amalga and the Eagle River flats — cutting the grass, trimming the fringes, edging exactly where the kept ground meets the wild ground. Yards this far from town are half garden and half forest, so that border has to be drawn on purpose or it disappears in a fortnight. Drawing it well is the craft: a clean edge, an even cut, the clippings and windfall carried off behind. Then the evening comes down over Lynn Canal and the trailer heads back toward town.
