About Cowboy Plowing

Up on the Anchorage Hillside, past O'Malley and Rabbit Creek, the lots get bigger and the driveways get longer — gravel loops around log homes, paddocks with horses stamping in the cold, tree lines thick with black spruce holding the snow load until a chinook wind lets some of it go. Cowboy Plowing works that country: half-mile driveways, turnarounds sized for a horse trailer, gates that need a clear swing radius or nobody's getting a truck through by morning. The work here is less about square footage and more about routes — knowing which driveway drifts shut first when the wind comes down off the Chugach, which one stays open on its own. A property gets checked and cleared before the first commute down toward the Seward Highway, gate to garage, so the day starts without a shovel in hand. A five-acre lot downtown might take the same time as three of these driveways combined, and that's fine — these are places built for room, not for crowding.
